Caroline Vogels, research technician. Caroline graduated in 2011 for her Bachelor in Applied Sciences. Caroline did two different Bachelors research internships. The first one at the Flinders University Adelaide, Australia on isoloating actinobacteriae from potato plants. The second internship Caroline performed at the Radboud University Nijmegen Medical Centre where she was involved in the characterization of mitochondrial complex I assembly factors. Peter van Zandvoort, research technician. Peter has over twelve years experience in working in the R&D of the international pharmaceutical company of MSD/Organon at Oss, The Netherlands. He is well experienced in the development of cell based assays to support Lead Finding and Lead Optimization programs up to proof-of-principle. In addition, he gained a lot of expertise in the performance of bioanalysis of samples from (pre)clinical trials up to Phase III with investigational biological pharmaceuticals in compliance to GLP. Prior to joining MSD/Organon, Peter worked at the Wageningen University Research Centre and at the Department of Human Genetics at the Radboud University Nijmegen Medical Centre, respectively. Mina Pellegrini, researcher. Mina, till September 2011, had a position as postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Biochemistry of the Nijmegen Centre for Molecular Life Sciences at the Radboud University Nijmegen Medical Centre, the Netherlands. She has spent several years in different European research laboratories studying the mechanisms of mitochondrial DNA transcription and replication, providing her with a solid background in the mitochondrial research field. Mina will focus her activities on the implementation and optimization of high throughput assays for fluorescence live cells imaging and automated analysis.

Richelle Spanjers, research technician. Richelle graduated in 2012 for her Master Medical Biology and in 2008 for her Bachelor in Applied Sciences. She did a Bachelor internship at GlaxoSmithKline in Stevenage, UK and two Master internships, the first one at the Department of Biomolecular Chemistry of the Nijmegen Centre for Molecular Life Sciences and the second one at the Department of Cell Signalling and Cell Death of the La Trobe University/Walter and Eliza Institute in Melbourne, Australia. During her Master she has done a literature thesis on the development of a cure for mitochondrial disease.

Lionel Blanchet, researcher. Lionel recieved his M.Sc from the graduate engineering school Polytech'Lille (France) in 2005. He completed his Ph.D. in 2008 on the application of chemometrics on spectroscopic data at the universities of Lille (France) and Barcelona (Spain). In 2008 he moved to the Radboud University in Nijmegen where he spent 3 years in working in the fields of metabolomics and proteomics data analysis. He holds also position of post-doctoral researcher at the Centre of Systems Biology and Bioenergetics of the Radboud University Nijmegen Medical Centre, The Netherlands. His expertise covers the use of statistical analysis, machine learning and data mining approaches on biochemical data. E-mail: blanchet@khondrion.com

Julien Beyrath, researcher. Julien obtained his M.Sc in Pharmacology (2006) and his PhD in molecular and cellular biology (2010) from the University of Strasbourg, France. The major focus of his research was directed to the development and the study of synthetic ligands targeting the TNFR (Tumor-Necrosis-Factor Receptors) and TLR (Toll-Like Receptors) families with the aim of using these reagents as potential cancer therapeutic agents. Since 2010 he holds a position as post-doctoral researcher at the Centre for Systems Biology and Bioenergetics of the Radboud University Nijmegen Medical Centre, The Netherlands. He dedicates his research toward the identification of new drug targets for mitochondrial diseases. His expertise covers an extensive range of disciplines and laboratory techniques including biochemistry, molecular biology, drug discovery and pre-clinical experimentation.  E-mail: beyrath@khondrion.com
